The action was carried out on the 23rd and 24th of July, by the Directorate of Deconcentrated Unit of Sema de Alta Floresta, after reporting illegal extraction of wood from the chestnut species.
At the site, 10 cubic meters of sawn chestnut wood, 126 piquiá and itaúba wood chips, 2.97 m³ of round wood of the itaúba species and seven cut chestnut trees were seized. Selective exploration of approximately 27 hectares was identified. The fine applied by Sema totaled R$ 155,975.09. The seized wood was donated to Nova Bandeirantes City Hall.
In addition to promoting the embargo of the area, Sema notified the owner to carry out the Rural Environmental Registry and forestry replacement of the area of native vegetation that was deforested without authorization from the environmental agency. The inspected enterprise is located in the Sol Nascente Community.
