Arthur Ferreira Mazutti, just 13 years old, died on Sunday morning (26) after falling ill during the 2nd edition of the Corn Race, held in Nova Ubiratã (431 km from Cuiabá). The teenager was participating in the event accompanied by family members when, at the end of the race, he began to feel short of breath and needed to be rescued by an ambulance.

According to information obtained by the report through audios sent by Arthur's father to colleagues, the teenager began to feel ill shortly after completing the race. He used a nebulizer, popularly known as a “pump”, because he was asthmatic, but his condition worsened.

"Unfortunately, I lost my son in the race here in Nova Ubiratã. He participated in the race, at the end of the race he fell ill. He was taken to the ambulance and taken to the hospital, but unfortunately at Nova Ubiratã Hospital, we were unable to save our son", said the father.

Even after using the medication, Arthur needed to be attended to by rescuers at the event. He was taken by ambulance to the municipal hospital, but he did not survive and died in the health unit.

"I lost my boy, man. After the race, he felt sick. He arrived at the end, he drank water, all of it, but he started to feel sick, he used the pump, because he has asthma, he went to the ambulance. The ambulance staff attended to him, but then he started to get worse. He went to the hospital, which isn't that far away, it's close by, quickly, but unfortunately he arrived already blue. The doctors did everything they could, but they weren't able to [save him], unfortunately", he reported.

The causes and circumstances of death will be clarified after the forensic examination.

In a note published on social media, Nova Ubiratã City Hall expressed its regret over the teenager's death and offered solidarity to his parents, family and friends.

“In this moment of deep pain and sadness, the Municipal Administration sympathizes with your family and friends, especially your parents and other loved ones, wishing you strength and comfort to face this early and painful loss”, says an excerpt from the note.
