According to the survey, 37% of those interviewed stated that the American government does not act with this objective, while 11% said they did not know how to answer.
The perception that the initiative would have a political impact is even stronger among voters of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT): in this group, 73% say they believe that Trump is trying to benefit Flávio Bolsonaro. Among the senator's voters, on the other hand, 29% also share this assessment.
Level of knowledge on the topic
The survey also investigated the level of information Brazilians have about the increase in tariffs.
The results show that 37% said they had no knowledge of the subject. Another 34% said they were "more or less informed", while only 25% said they were well informed about the United States' decision.
Datafolha carried out 2,004 interviews on July 22nd and 23rd. The margin of error is two percentage points, plus or minus. The research is registered with the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) under code BR-01166/2026.
