'She just wants to appear', declares Xuxa about Mara Maravilha's criticism
ISABELA FAGGIANISÃO PAULO, SP (FOLHAPRESS) - Xuxa Meneghel publicly spoke out about Mara Maravilha's criticisms of the "O Último Voo da Nave" tour and the show's costumes. This Thursday (6), the Rainha dos Baixinhos...
The response was published on the page of journalist Marcio Rolim, who shared a video criticizing Mara's stance. In the recording, he highlights that the presenter made 41 posts in stories attacking Xuxa.
"41 times she shared things attacking Xuxa simply because Xuxa wore a swimsuit, among other things, such as being on a children's music show at the age of 63," he stated. "She believes that because there are younger people doing new things and needing to gain ground, older people who have done great things don't need to be doing their jobs."
Afterwards, the journalist said that Mara's criticisms make no sense and stated that the presenter's opinions are influenced by "religious fundamentalism, far-right thoughts and homophobia". He also argued that older artists should continue acting and mentioned names such as Maria Bethânia, Miguel Falabella and Gretchen.
When watching the video, Xuxa left a comment agreeing with Marcio and added that Mara was just trying to get attention. The presenter also stated that she felt sorry for those who try to "get a ride on the ship" through attacks.
"You're right, but I think you missed saying that she just wants to show off, like a lot of people who are trying to get a ride on the ship with insults and not with their opinions (it's different if you don't like me and disrespect my story)," he wrote. "But I think the more I talk about everyone who attacks me, the more they will talk. Honestly, I'm sorry. It must be horrible to have to diminish someone in order to grow or appear."
The day after the first show of the tour, the blonde was criticized by journalist Mônica Salgado, who characterized Xuxa's costumes as an "excessive eroticization". The presenter countered the negative comments with good humor: "If you didn't like it, keep spreading the word."
