Wagner Moura explains why he no longer participates in soap operas

Moura said that he thinks that soap operas are a heritage of Brazilian culture and that the way they are recorded made him used to the chaotic routine of recording in Hollywood. “The soap opera prepared me,” he said.

"Because you need to arrive and record, and that gave me a sense of survival. Now, with this frantic moment, where I need to get to the set, often without knowing my lines, I need that," said the actor.

He, however, explained that recording a soap opera takes a long time, often becoming a commitment of more than a year. This causes the actor to miss opportunities to record films or participate in plays.

“Making a soap opera is a very long commitment,” explains the actor. "It's a whole year that you stick to one thing. It's not much."

During the interview with Bial, the actor also commented on other subjects, such as tolerance, democracy and capitalism, mainly due to the play in which he is acting as the protagonist, "Um Trial". Furthermore, he said that he is tired of receiving attacks because of his political stance and that he would like to talk to people linked to the right.

"In the end, what matters is love. It's a cliché, but it's true. It's affection, it's what we feel for the people who are close to us. And, if we have enough empathy, for others too, including those who think differently than us", he assessed. "I'm tired of being hated by a bunch of people. It's exhausting."
