Towle suffered from cholangiocarcinoma (a rare and aggressive cancer that forms in the bile ducts, channels that transport bile from the liver to the intestine), and his family announced his death on social media this Thursday, August 6.
“We will love you forever, Sydney”, says the caption of a post made on her Instagram profile. "I'm so proud of the way you fought. I love you."
The young woman had started palliative care, as her brother, Austin Towle, said in a video posted on TikTok on August 4. At the time, he highlighted that she was “surrounded by friends and family”.
"Thank you all very much. Your love and support does not go unnoticed," he said.
Sydney had more than 1 million followers on TikTok, where she shared the health challenges she faced. In June 2025, for example, she said she was being treated with a liver pump, a device that administered chemotherapy directly to the liver. Towle also participated in a clinical trial of tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte therapy.
