Six months after the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, mother of presenter Savannah Guthrie, the Pima County Sheriff's Department, in the state of Arizona, released the contents of two ransom notes sent to the family. The documents, made public on Friday, reveal the demands made by the kidnappers and a new version of the fate of the elderly woman, who disappeared on February 1st.

In the first note, the authors claim that Nancy had been kidnapped and say that she was alive, although scared. They demanded payment of US$4 million in bitcoin by February 5th. If the deadline was not met, the amount would rise to US$6 million, with a new limit until the 9th. The criminals stated that, after confirmation of payment, the victim would be released within 12 hours, in a safe location in the city of Tucson. They also threatened to kill Nancy if the money was not deposited within the deadline, stating that there would be no negotiation and that the police could not help.

In the second note, those responsible for the kidnapping state that Nancy died shortly after being taken. According to the text, they did not realize the severity of the victim's health condition and believe that she suffered a heart problem. The authors also say that the elderly woman was buried in a nature area and claim that nothing could have changed the outcome of the case, ending the message with an apology to the family.

Despite the release of the tickets, the case remains unsolved. Sheriff Chris Nanos said in May that investigations were progressing and that authorities believed they were closer to solving the crime. So far, no one has been arrested.

The FBI continues to offer a $100,000 reward for information leading to the location of Nancy or the arrest of those responsible. The Guthrie family also made a $1 million reward available.

After the tickets were released, Savannah Guthrie again made an appeal on social media. The presenter asked anyone with information to contact the authorities and said she believed someone could recognize the handwriting on the notes. In another publication, she described the suffering experienced by the family since her mother's disappearance and reinforced that she continues to wait for answers.

Nancy Guthrie was 84 years old when she disappeared. According to her family, she used a pacemaker and depended on daily medications, such as anticoagulants and antiarrhythmics, which made her health condition even more delicate. During the investigations, the FBI analyzed images from security cameras, released a description of a suspect, published images of a backpack he was carrying and received more than 13,000 tips. One man was detained and interrogated in February, but was eventually released.
