Vincent Pastore, who turned 80 on July 14, had an extensive resume of supporting roles in film and television since the 1980s, many of them playing "tough" characters linked to crime and the mafia.
"Goodfellas" (1990), by Martin Scorsese, "A Manhattan Murder Mystery" (1993), by Woody Allen, "The Final Paycheck" (1993), by Brian De Palma, and "Revolver" (2005), by Guy Ritchie, are some of the films in which he participated.
Vincent Pastore was best known for playing Salvatore "Big Pussy" Bonpensiero, a character in the series "The Sopranos" (1999-2007), a friend of Tony Soprano (played by actor James Gandolfini) who became an informant for the United States intelligence services.
According to the biography available on the IMDb portal, Vincent Pastore was born in the Bronx, New York, had several jobs and enlisted in the Navy during the Vietnam War, before pursuing a career as an actor. He studied performing arts at Pace University.
