Penthouse where Elize Matsunaga dismembered her husband is put up for sale for R$2.8 million in SP

The ad, published a month ago on a property buying and selling website, shows the penthouse that was built in the 1990s. The property is a combination of two apartments into one, one of the few of its kind in the Rua Carlos Weber condominium. In total, there are five suites, four parking spaces, hot tub, barbecue and private pool. According to the advertisement, the property has a monthly condominium fee of R$6,087 and IPTU of R$19,300 per year.

It was in one of the rooms in the penthouse, which has noise-resistant glass, of the 340 m² apartment that Marcos Matsunaga was shot in the head. Afterwards, Elize dragged the businessman's body 12 meters, to a room, where the dismemberment took place.

Weeks after the crime, Elize returned to the apartment accompanied by police officer Mauro Gomes Dias, who reconstructed the events. "We carried out the luminol test in the indicated location and found traces of a blood trail. Another chemical reagent proved that it was human blood", said expert Ricardo da Silva Salada, from the Crimes Against Persons Expertise Unit of the Institute of Criminalistics (IC) at the time.

Her husband, Marcos Matsunaga, was also an amateur photographer and a great wine connoisseur. According to the neighbors of the building where he lived, interviewed by Estadão at the time of the crime, he was a discreet and friendly person.

Remember the crime

Elize Matsunaga shot her husband, businessman Marcos Kitano Matsunaga, owner of the Yoki food industry, to the head in May 2012, in the couple's apartment, in Vila Leopoldina, in São Paulo. She then dismembered the body, placed the parts in bags and used her car to scatter the pieces in a forested area in Caucaia do Alto, in Cotia, in Greater São Paulo.

During the investigation, Elize confessed to the crime and alleged that her husband attacked and cheated on her. Initially sentenced to 19 years and 11 months in prison, her lawyer filed an appeal and, in 2019, she had her sentence reduced to 16 years and 3 months for having confessed to the crime. In May 2022, after serving ten years in prison and registering good behavior at the Tremembé Women's Penitentiary, she was promoted to the open regime.
