George Clooney leaves home in France due to fires and promises to help rebuild the city

In a letter sent to the city's mayor, Didier Brémond, the couple informed that they evacuated the property and stated that they will continue to help the community, regardless of the damage caused by the flames.

The message, confirmed by a representative of the actor and published by People magazine, shows concern for the region's residents. "At this time, we have no idea if our beautiful home will survive this terrible time," they wrote at the beginning of the letter.

Then, Clooney reinforced the family's commitment to the city. "As we evacuate Brignoles, we want to emphasize two things: first, we hope that you and the residents of our town are safe; second, Amal and I are committed to ensuring that whatever happens to our village, we will be part of this community and contribute to its rebuilding. We love Brignoles and our friends who live there."

The couple moved to France in 2025, after obtaining French citizenship, and chose Brignoles to raise their children away from the Hollywood spotlight. In an interview with Esquire magazine last year, Clooney said that the main motivation for the change was to offer children a more peaceful childhood. According to him, in France, children lead a simpler routine, away from the pressure of fame and the persecution of paparazzi.

In the conversation, the actor also revealed that he never imagined returning to live on a farm. Clooney also said he wanted to avoid having his children grow up surrounded by Los Angeles' celebrity culture.

The evacuation comes amid the worst wave of fires recorded in the European summer. On Wednesday (29), a new outbreak was identified in Brignoles, which mobilized around 250 firefighters. According to local authorities, approximately 100 hectares of vegetation were consumed by the flames, and several neighborhoods had to be evacuated.

The fires also affect other regions of France, as well as Spain, Italy and Greece. According to the Associated Press agency, the area devastated by fire in French territory is already equivalent to about four times the size of Paris.
