According to Inmet, for Sunday (19) and Monday (20), areas of instability intensify in Rio Grande do Sul, with rain, thunderstorms and hail forecast in the state. There is an orange warning of danger for storms in the west, center and south of Rio Grande do Sul, covering municipalities such as São Borja, Santa Maria, Uruguaiana, Bagé, Pelotas and Santa Vitória do Palmar. In other areas of the state, the warning is yellow for potential danger for storms.
The orange danger warning area for storms also includes municipalities in the regions of Ijuí, Santa Cruz do Sul and the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre. In other areas of Rio Grande do Sul, the yellow warning of potential danger for storms remains in force.
With the strong winds coming from the north of the continent, transported by the Low Level Jet, the cold loses intensity in the South Region, with minimum temperatures of around 10°C restricted to the mountain regions. The heat increases during the afternoons, with highs of up to 30°C in Rio Grande do Sul on Saturday and up to 32°C in the northwest of Paraná on Monday. On Sunday and Monday, the maximum is around 24°C in Rio Grande do Sul due to the action of storms.
According to the Rio Grande do Sul State Civil Defense Monitoring Center, there are 36 municipalities within the severe meteorological risk area: Alegrete, Cacequi, Capão do Cipó, Caçapava do Sul, Dilermando de Aguiar, Dom Pedrito, Formigueiro, Itaara, Itacurubi, Itaqui, Jaguari, Jari, Lavras do Sul, Manoel Viana, Mata, Maçambará, Nova Esperança do Sul, Quaraí, Quevedos, Rosário do Sul, Santa Margarida do Sul, Santa Maria, Santana do Livramento, Santiago, Santo Antônio das Missões, São Borja, São Francisco de Assis, São Gabriel, São Martinho da Serra, São Pedro do Sul, São Sepé, São Vicente do Sul, Toropi, Unistalda, Uruguaiana and Vila Nova do Sul. The severe risk is for intense and voluminous rain in a short period of time, strong gusts of wind and hail fall.
