Missing 5-year-old autistic boy is found dead in biodigester

The body was located inside a biodigester, a structure used to transform organic waste, such as food remains and manure, into biogas and biofertilizer. The area had previously been inspected by the Fire Department, but underwent a new sweep to eliminate any possibility that the child was still missing.

According to information released by the authorities, João Gabriel left the house to use a bathroom located outside the property and did not return. Since then, family members and rescue teams have begun a major operation to try to find him.

The searches mobilized approximately 150 people, including military firefighters, civil police officers, military police officers, municipal guards and volunteers, who worked in an integrated manner during the three days of searching.

The Secretary of Public Security of Paraná, Colonel Hudson Teixeira, regretted the outcome of the operation.

"It's news that we wouldn't like to give. We worked hard to bring this boy back alive, unfortunately it wasn't possible. Our feelings and respect go to Joãozinho's family and memory", he declared.

The child's body was sent to the Legal Medical Institute (IML), where it will undergo expert examinations. To date, the cause of death and the dynamics of what happened remain under investigation.

The Paraná Civil Police and the Scientific Police are working to clarify the circumstances of the case and determine what happened to João Gabriel.
