The victim, whose identity was not revealed, was hit at a time when there was a large number of bathers on the beach. The man received first aid from other bathers, until the Fire Department arrived.
The man was taken to the municipal hospital Hugo Miranda, in Paraty, in serious condition. He was taken to the scene by a fire ambulance, which was carrying out treatment to try to save him.
The case will be investigated by the Civil Police. Until this publication, the corporation did not inform the report about the suspected cause of the accident, nor whether anyone had been identified and detained. "The case was registered at the 167th DP (Paraty). Investigations are underway to investigate the facts," the police said in a statement.
The Fire Department confirmed that the victim was taken to the hospital. The health unit confirmed that the victim succumbed to his injuries and died.
