SÃO PAULO, SP (UOL/FOLHAPRESS) - President Leila Pereira and coach Abel Ferreira are aligned: Danilo is the only reinforcement that interests Palmeiras in this transfer window. If they are unable to sign the Botafogo midfielder, the club will not look for another name on the market. UOL explains Alviverde's "obsession" with repatriating the player.
What explains Palmeiras' desire for Danilo and how this affects Andreas
SÃO PAULO, SP (UOL/FOLHAPRESS) - President Leila Pereira and coach Abel Ferreira are aligned: Danilo is the only reinforcement that interests Palmeiras in this transfer window. If they are unable to sign the Botafogo...
Danilo was a key player in six of the eleven titles won during the Abel Ferreira era, and the coach dreams of the day he will work with the player again. Palmeiras traded the midfielder in January 2023 to Nottingham Forest for around R$110 million.
The report found that both the technical committee and management see Danilo as the only missing piece to complete the squad. If you are left without Danilo, no other player will arrive at Alviverde.
Palmeiras will send a new offer to Botafogo after forwarding the sale of Naves to Necaxa, from Mexico. Alviverde's first proposal was around R$120 million, plus the defender's permanent departure - but the deal didn't happen.
ABEL UNDERSTANDS THAT DANILO ENHANCES ANDREAS
The Palmeiras technical committee is unanimous: the best version of Andreas Pereira on the team was when he played more advanced, as a number 10.
The problem is that the way Palmeiras plays this Thursday (16) leaves Andreas hostage in the number 8 role, where Abel does not have a suitable replacement (the immediate reserve is Lucas Evangelista).
Therefore, Danilo would arrive at Alviverde to take on the role of 8, and Abel would gain the possibility of leaving Andreas freer to play.
The 30-year-old midfielder is Palmeiras' main waiter this season with 9 assists, even though he plays a little deeper.
