SÃO PAULO, SP (UOL/FOLHAPRESS) - An employee of a pest control company is suspected of stealing a bank card from a convent in Teixeira Soares (PR). According to the Civil Police, he spent more than R$30,000 on purchases...
The suspect, aged 39, was arrested preventively on Tuesday (15). According to the Civil Police, he also withdrew more than R$6,000 from the account linked to the card.
In addition to cash, police seized products purchased with the card, including cell phones, household appliances and other objects. The suspect's name was not released.
According to the police report, the theft occurred in early June, but was only noticed about a month later, when the nuns noticed the card was missing. Analysis of the bank statement and security camera images from the establishments where the card was used helped identify the suspect.
According to the investigation, the man took advantage of the moment when the nuns left the convent to carry out the pest control service to search the place. In addition to the bank card, he would have taken a piece of paper with the password, which was kept next to the card.
