The United States launched new attacks against Iran this Wednesday (8), reported the Central Command of the American Armed Forces (Centcom). Explosions were recorded in the cities of Bandar Abbas and Sirik, in the south of the country, according to the Iranian press.
In a statement, the US Central Command (Centcom) reported that, "under the guidance of the commander in chief", American forces began carrying out new bombings to "further reduce Iran's ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz".
According to the American government, the operation aims to hold Iran responsible for the "recent unjustified aggression" against commercial ships and civilian crews sailing through the sea.
The episode occurred just hours after United States President Donald Trump stated that the peace agreement with Iran was "over." He also threatened to launch new attacks against the country.
"I'll give you a little warning: We're going to hit them hard tonight," Trump told reporters.
"If necessary, we will cut the electricity system and water treatment plants, but we don't want that."
Despite the peace agreement announced in June, the United States and Iran have returned to exchanging attacks in recent weeks.
In recent hours, American forces have bombed targets in southern Iran after accusing Tehran of attacking three commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the main routes for the world's oil trade.
Sirik and Bandar Abbas were US targets during Tuesday's attacks (7).
Iran promises response
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reacted to Trump's threats and stated that the country will respond through firm action. In a post on the social network X, the Iranian foreign minister praised the people of his country and issued a warning.
"Addressing the civilized and courageous nation of Iran with offensive language does not diminish its greatness. Iranians are known for their civility, culture and strong moral values," he wrote.
"We do not respond to vulgarity with vulgarity, but with actions: with courage and great bravery."
The publication was a response to the tone adopted by Trump, who called Iranian leaders "scum" and "crazy".
"I don't want to deal with them, they are led by sick people and they are cruel and violent people," said the American president.
