Developed in the early 20th century as a way to assess human intelligence, the IQ (Intelligence Quotient) score is a long-used method of gauging educational placement, assessing levels of intellectual disability, and analyzing job candidates. Although IQ scores for measuring intelligence have been questioned in recent years, in practice they continue to be widely used. The Ulster Institute for Social Research is at the forefront of studies in the area and has compiled information to calculate the IQ averages for each country around the globe. To give you an idea, an IQ of 90 is considered average intelligence.
