SÃO PAULO, SP (FOLHAPRESS) - Cidade do Rock, in Barra da Tijuca, west of Rio de Janeiro, had part of its structures damaged after the strong windstorm that hit the city on Thursday (29). The space is undergoing preparations to host another edition of Rock in Rio, which is scheduled to start on September 4th.

The gusts of wind caused damage to structures that had already been installed at the site. One of the points affected was the Favela Stage, which is part of the festival's program and should host performances by artists such as Xamã and Belo.

Despite the damage, no injuries were reported during the episode. The organization reported that teams were called immediately after the storm to clean up and isolate the affected areas.

In a statement to F5, Rock in Rio's advisors classified the problems as "specific breakdowns" and stated that the assembly work is continuing as planned. The teams are expected to resume activities this Thursday (30).

"Due to the gusts of wind recorded yesterday (29) in Rio de Janeiro, some structures in the Cidade do Rock assembly suffered occasional damage. There were no injuries. The teams acted immediately to isolate and clean the affected area", informed the organization.

Rock in Rio 2026 starts on September 4th and will move the City of Rock over several days of programming. The Favela Stage is one of the structures that are part of the festival's configuration and will have well-known names in Brazilian music among its attractions.
