The title goal was scored by Ferran Torres, who came off the bench and found the net in the 106th minute. With the victory, the Spanish team lifted the cup again 16 years after their first title, won in 2010, when they beat the Netherlands, also in extra time.
After the final whistle, at MetLife Stadium, in New Jersey, Spain's players received gold medals and rings commemorating their achievement. Then, captain Rodri Hernández lifted the trophy that confirmed the Spanish team's second world title.
