The negotiation was close to being concluded in 2025. The last face-to-face meeting between the player's representatives and club directors took place after the Club World Cup that year, when there was a significant rapprochement in the values discussed. Even so, the agreement did not advance to the final stage.
According to the publication, Vinicius began negotiations seeking remuneration close to R$191 million net per season. Later, the requirement was lowered to around R$127 million annually. Real Madrid also increased the initial proposal, reducing the financial difference between the two sides.

The current contract was signed in 2022 and ends in June 2027. Over the five seasons foreseen in the contract, the striker will receive approximately R$478 million net. The remuneration was structured progressively, starting from around R$64 million per year and reaching almost R$115 million in the last season.
Vinicius also started receiving an annual bonus of close to R$13 million after winning FIFA's The Best award. Additional payment is also provided if the player wins the Ballon d'Or.
The discussions, however, are not limited to salary. The bonus for signing a new contract and the division of image rights are among the points that make it difficult to conclude the negotiations.
The attacker intends to increase his participation in revenue generated by advertising contracts. Vinicius maintains agreements with 18 international brands and seeks conditions similar to those granted by Real Madrid to Kylian Mbappé, who retains practically all the gains obtained from his image.
Even without an agreement, the Brazilian intends to remain at the Spanish club, according to AS. If the renewal is not agreed, Vinicius will be able to sign a pre-contract with another team from January 2027, six months before the end of his current commitment.
