Brazil breaks record and produces 4.47 million barrels of oil per day

The data was released by the National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP). Adding oil and natural gas production, Brazil reached 5.842 million barrels of oil equivalent per day.

The pre-salt accounted for the largest portion of the result. Production in this region reached 4.788 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, equivalent to 82% of the national total. The volume was extracted from 198 wells and was 24% above that recorded in June 2025.

Natural gas production also advanced. 217.35 million cubic meters were extracted per day, an increase of 19.7% in the annual comparison. Of this total, 64.36 million cubic meters per day were made available to the market.

According to the ANP, the natural gas utilization rate reached 97%. The burning of the product totaled 6.63 million cubic meters per day, an increase of 10.1% compared to June last year. The increase was mainly attributed to the commissioning process of the P-79 platform, installed in the Búzios field.

Maritime areas concentrated 98.1% of oil production and 87.6% of natural gas extraction. Petrobras, considering its own operations and participation in consortiums, accounted for 87.08% of the volume produced in the country.

Located in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin, the Búzios field maintained its leadership in oil production, with 1.02 million barrels per day. The Mero field was the largest producer of natural gas, with 48.73 million cubic meters per day.

The increase in activity also had an impact on federal revenue. Last week, the Federal Revenue reported that revenue from taxes paid by the oil and natural gas extraction sector grew 1,629%, in real terms, compared to June 2025.

The advance occurred during a period of appreciation of commodities on the international market, driven by the conflict in the Middle East. Part of the additional revenue obtained by the government from oil has been allocated to temporary measures, such as fuel subsidies, adopted to reduce the effects of rising prices on inflation.
