The electoral calendar began to be fulfilled in Brazil with the officialization of the first candidates at party conventions. Even in an election year, the country's legislation allows public competitions to be held. Until the end of 2026, there are two competitions with a published notice and another five with defined panels.
Public competitions remain scheduled during the election period
The electoral calendar began to be fulfilled in Brazil with the officialization of the first candidates at party conventions. Even in an election year, the country's legislation allows public competitions to be held....
Those interested in competing for a vacancy at the Brazilian Guarantee Fund Management Agency (ABGF) can apply until August 6, on the website of
Carlos Chagas Foundation.
There are also competitions with a defined panel, but without a published notice yet, for Petrobras, Indústrias Nucleares do Brasil, Federal Nursing Council, Federal Accounting Council and National Agency for Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (Anater).
Legislation
According to the Superior Electoral Court, public competitions are permitted in an election year. The restrictions provided for by law only concern appointments and filling of positions during the electoral period.
"The holding of public competitions in an election year is fully permitted, without any restrictions. However, the legislation created restrictions on the filling of public positions within the electoral campaign period", informs the TSE on its website.
“In the three months preceding the elections until the elected officials take office, with some exceptions, government officials will not be able to call on those approved in competitions to fill public positions”, adds the court.
Studies
Therefore, the election year or even the period of political campaigns should not be a disincentive to those who seek a place in the public service.
"The need is demonstrated, there is a budget forecast, there is already a structure prepared for this to happen. So, I don't think we can be discouraged. It's exactly the best moment", assessed Eduardo Cambuy, coordinator of Gran Concursos.
He recommends starting studies with the basic subjects, essential for various competitions and with greater weight in each area. “Therefore, these subjects must be prestigious so that the candidate saves time.”
