According to the company, the Truth API was developed for "organizations most impacted by the cost of delays in accessing information" and uses distribution methods capable of delivering Truth Social publications in "milliseconds". The service is expected to offer continuous coverage, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in addition to including a historical archive of publications dating back to 2022. According to Reuters, Trump Media even discussed charging up to US$100,000 per month for access to the Truth API. Service faces controversy After the service was announced in July, Democratic senators asked the SEC, the United States capital markets regulator, to investigate Truth API. According to parliamentarians, the tool would increase legal, political and regulatory risks. "This appears to be an outrageous abuse of the office of President for personal gain, which harms ordinary investors and the integrity of the markets while enriching Wall Street and other privileged and wealthy participants," Senators Elizabeth Warren and Adam Schiff wrote in a letter to SEC Chairman Paul Atkins. The launch caught the attention of analysts because Trump's posts on social media often cause fluctuations in stocks, currencies and government bonds, especially when they deal with trade tariffs, economic policy or international relations. An SEC spokesperson and Atkins himself confirmed receipt of the letter but declined to comment on the matter. Appointed by Trump, the Republican is a defender of the free market and has adopted a stance considered more lenient in relation to the regulation of the financial sector.
