George was born on July 22, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital in London. The eldest grandson of King Charles III, he is second in line to the British throne, behind only his father.
The birthday coincides with an important change in the prince's school life. According to the BBC, George will follow in William's footsteps and study at Eton College, one of the most traditional educational institutions in the United Kingdom.
Prince Harry, George's uncle, also attended the school, as did Charles Spencer, Princess Diana's brother and the teenager's great-uncle.
The school operates on a boarding basis. George will be required to live in one of the 25 residence halls available on campus, each housing approximately 55 students.
Until now, he studied at Lambrook School in Berkshire, alongside his younger siblings Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
The choice of Eton also brought reports about William's time at the institution to the surface again. A former student who studied during the same period as the prince and Harry told The Telegraph that the current heir to the throne was teased by classmates.
According to the former student, William did not receive prominent treatment at the school, which was attended by young people from traditional and very wealthy families.
"We didn't admire William, and I don't think he would like us to. We have to remember that, at Eton, he never stood out much. There were boys from families even richer than his and also students from very old English aristocratic lineages", he stated.
The former student also said that William was called by some colleagues a “nouveau riche German”.
“He was popular, but he was also just one of the crowd,” he added.
