Braskem confirms negotiations with creditors on possible debt restructuring
Braskem confirmed this Tuesday, 21st, that it is holding negotiations with financial creditors about a possible restructuring of its capital structure. The company highlighted, however, that the proposals received so...
The clarification was released in response to a letter from B3 regarding a report by the newspaper Valor Econômico, which reported the presentation of a new proposal for the restructuring of a debt estimated at around R$50 billion.
One of the alternatives provides for the granting of new financing, in the DIP modality, with the possibility of converting debt into equity participation and strong dilution of controlling shareholders. Another proposal involves extending the term of the bonds, with all of the company's assets offered as collateral.
Braskem confirmed that it received proposals with the main terms and parameters of a possible restructuring, but reinforced that the conditions are still under analysis. The company stated that it remains committed to negotiations and seeks a consensual, structuring and orderly solution for its capital structure, without compromising the continuity of operations.
The process occurs while the petrochemical company tries to reorganize its financial situation. Since September 2025, the company has had specialized financial and legal advisors to evaluate alternatives for optimizing the capital structure.
In June this year, Braskem and investors holding senior notes and debentures began exchanging information and indicative proposals about a possible restructuring.
The company also reported that the Court granted precautionary measures that determined, among other measures, the suspension, for 60 days, of executions and restrictions promoted by creditors invited to participate in the mediation initiated by the company and certain subsidiaries before the Wind Mediation Chamber.
Although it reinforced that negotiations continue, the statement confirms that the reorganization of the debt remains under discussion with creditors. To date, according to Braskem, all proposals received are indicative, non-binding and are still undergoing evaluation.
On Monday, the 20th, Estadão reported that holders of debt securities issued by Braskem abroad have demanded direct conversations with Petrobras, without the intermediation of IG4 Capital, to advance negotiations on an extrajudicial recovery plan that needs to be completed by mid-August.
According to the publication, there is “frustration” with the progress of the negotiations, led by executives from Braskem’s financial area appointed by the manager.
