The Federal Police summoned Senator Jaques Wagner (PT-BA), former leader of the Lula government, to testify in early August regarding suspicions of receiving bribes from Banco Master.

The PF wants to hear the senator's explanations about the request made to the former Banco Master partner, Augusto Lima, to purchase an apartment worth R$2.5 million, in Salvador, intended for his daughter. Investigators should also question him about the attempted sale of land in Camaçari for R$15.8 million, one day after executing a search and seizure warrant against the parliamentarian. The transaction was revealed on Saturday (18) by Estadão.

The date initially scheduled for the testimony is August 7, but the senator's defense can still request the hearing to be postponed or waived. When contacted, the lawyers did not say whether Jaques Wagner would appear.

In an interview given after the operation, the senator admitted having asked Augusto Lima to buy the apartment, but stated that he intended to reimburse the amount later and denied having favored Banco Master in his work in the Senate.

In the same week, the PF must also hear from others investigated in the investigation that investigates the case.

Estadão revealed that Jaques Wagner registered with a notary, on June 19, one day after the search and seizure operation, the sale of land in Camaçari, in the Metropolitan Region of Salvador, for R$15.8 million. The transaction was blocked by the 1st Property Registry Office of Camaçari after the blocking of assets determined by the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) André Mendonça, rapporteur of the process.

"In compliance with protocol no. (...), issued by minister André Luiz de Almeida Mendonça, the unavailability of the property subject to the registration above, owned by Jaques Wagner, is registered on this date," the notary's office recorded. The senator's defense denied irregularities and stated that "the sale of the property is the result of a negotiation initiated in 2024 and formalized in 2025 by the City Football Group, as shown in the documents."

According to the lawyers, "the agreement provided for the exchange of the property for lots of the project and the advance payment of R$2 million, a duly declared amount, with the payment of tax on capital gains (DARF paid on 06/30/2025). The public deed was drawn up in May 2026, preserving the nature of the operation as an exchange."

Land would be used in a real estate development. The area belongs to the senator and is located in the Metropolitan Region of Salvador. It was sold to a company whose partner is Grupo City, controller of SAF do Esporte Clube Bahia, in partnership with companies in the real estate sector. The land is expected to be part of a real estate development next to the club's new training center.

When asked about the operation, Bahia's communications department reported that land was acquired from four different owners in the region, following market criteria, and that the Jaques Wagner area represents 9.6% of the total. The club added that the judicial blockade should not compromise the construction of the project.

Lagoons Empreendimentos, the company purchasing the land, stated that "the property acquisition process began in 2024, starting the purchase of land from different owners, following technical criteria related to the implementation of the project." According to the company, "the aforementioned land was acquired in May 2025 and comprises 9.6% of the area where the project attached to the Esporte Clube Bahia SAF Training Center will be implemented."

The company also highlighted that "all acquisitions followed market criteria and were validated by independent consultants, in addition to undergoing due diligence, including obtaining certificates issued by the Property Registry Office, which did not indicate any restriction that would prevent the public deed of purchase and sale from being carried out."

Finally, he added that "the buyer only continued the registration procedures necessary to formalize the transfer of the property, which began in May 2025."

Bolsonaro's defense requests the return of Flávio's visits and claims that his son is his father's lawyer

Lawyers say the restriction on visits is disproportionate and 'exceeds the limits of necessity' after the letter was released. Defense also wants the First Panel to analyze requests if Alexandre de Moraes does not accept an appeal
