Nvidia launches tool to detect AI-created videos in seconds

As artificial intelligence tools begin to create increasingly realistic images and videos, concerns about the spread of false content also grow. In response to this scenario, Nvidia presented a new technology developed to identify videos produced by AI.

Named Synthetic Video Detector, the tool was announced during SIGGRAPH 2026, held in Los Angeles, in the United States.

According to the company, the system can analyze a video in Full HD resolution (1080p) in just 22 milliseconds, allowing you to quickly check whether the content was generated by artificial intelligence, including in situations that require an immediate response.

Nvidia claims that the detector achieved 92% accuracy in tests carried out with uncompressed videos. When files were compressed by up to 15%, the success rate dropped to 87%. In videos with compression of up to 50%, the accuracy was 82%.

The ability to identify compressed videos is considered one of the tool's main differentiators, as platforms such as Instagram, TikTok and YouTube automatically reduce the size of files uploaded by users.

According to the Digital Trends website, Nvidia recognizes that the Synthetic Video Detector does not completely eliminate the challenge of identifying content produced by artificial intelligence. Still, the company believes that technology could become an important ally for fact-checking organizations and professionals responsible for verifying content.

The expectation is that the tool will be made available in around 170 countries over the next few months.
