SÃO PAULO, SP (FOLHAPRESS) - The Iranian regime threatened this Wednesday (8) to close the Strait of Hormuz again if it suffers more attacks from the United States, according to a security official in the country mentioned by state broadcaster Press TV.

The threat occurred hours after United States President Donald Trump announced that the peace agreement being negotiated between the two countries was "over" due to attacks on American targets in Persian Gulf countries.

According to the authority consulted, the latest wave of American attacks on the country "solidified Tehran's determination" to give an overwhelming response to new attacks on the country's territory.

According to the source, if the Islamic Republic is attacked, two actions will be taken: Hormuz will be completely closed to all maritime traffic, and the country will attack enemy targets in a ratio of at least two to one, meaning that for every Iranian target hit, at least two enemy targets will be hit in retaliation.

"Any threat will receive a forceful response. Iran does not distinguish between the United States and its partners in the region," the official told the Iranian broadcaster. "Trump will gain nothing from these recent threats, but he will certainly lose both Hormuz and the negotiations for a final agreement. The choice is now his."
