The move follows the UK's decision to summon Iran's chargé d'affaires in London on Tuesday (7) after two Romanian citizens were arrested for the stabbing of a British-Iranian journalist in 2024. The UK said the attack was carried out in the name of the Iranian state, a claim Tehran rejected. The ministry's director general for Western Europe, Alireza Yousefi, handed the ambassador a note of formal protest, accusing London of trying to "divert attention" and urging the country to stop harboring what Tehran described as "terrorist networks" that target Iran.
