Negotiations between Crespo and the Qatari club had been going on for weeks. The conversations were going well at first, but they faced resistance from the Argentinean given the conditions placed at the table.
Free on the market since June, Crespo continues to evaluate new opportunities to continue his career. The coach still attracts interest from clubs abroad.
As UOL showed at the end of June, Crespo was negotiating to take over Al-Sadd and replace Roberto Mancini in command of the team.
Crespo has been free on the market since March, when he was fired by São Paulo. As UOL showed at the time, the board decided to change command after a sequence of internal disagreements about season planning and day-to-day life at the Barra Funda CT.
