Films that went into production and were never released

Cinema as a business is as unstable as it is demanding. Getting a major Hollywood production off the ground involves so many people, so much equipment and financing that each film ends up being a completely private universe and brings its own problems. If we really stop to think about it, it's almost unbelievable that films can be made! Typically, the film industry is good at finishing what it starts, but sometimes the only option seems to be jumping ship. Whether due to fights between cast members, industry politics, public scandals or financing issues, there were more than a few films that didn't even make it to the big screen. Fans lamented some of these promises that never came to fruition, but could these productions have become fiascoes?
