Ancelotti warned CBF about contact from Italy, but did not consider leaving

The coach didn't even consider leaving the Brazilian team, as the report found. Ancelotti renewed his contract until 2030 just before the start of the 2026 World Cup.

The CBF sees Italy's interest as an appreciation of Ancelotti for the next cycle. The entity also understands the survey as something natural, especially due to the personal relationship between the coach and Maldini, who worked together at Milan.

There was no proposal or official conversation between the CBF and the Italian federation. Italy have been searching for a new coach since their failure to qualify for the World Cup and have Pep Guardiola as another target.

UNDERSTAND THE CASE

Maldini said this Thursday (23), in a press conference, that he spoke with the current commander of the Brazilian team, who is Italian. Maldini also confirmed Italy's interest in Pep Guardiola, who is free on the ball market. The high salary, however, could be an obstacle in negotiating with the Italians.

The director admitted that he hoped to announce the new commander this week. According to him, "there is a rush" in hiring the coach, but the federation is willing to wait to have the coach that "we really want". Gennaro Gattuso left Italy's command shortly after the defeat to Bosnia in the European play-offs. The setback confirmed the Italian team's absence from the World Cup for the third time in a row.
