England secured a place in the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup after beating Norway 2-1, in extra time, this Saturday. At the Hard Rock Stadium, in Miami, the English team had to react after falling behind on the scoreboard and ended the Norwegians' best campaign in the tournament's history.

Before the start of the match, a minute of silence was observed in honor of Jayden Adams, a South African national team player who died this Saturday, aged 25, after participating in the World Cup.

The confrontation began with England controlling possession of the ball and avoiding risks. The team exchanged passes in search of spaces in the opposing defense, while Norway adopted a more aggressive stance and tried to speed up the plays from the first minutes.

The first big opportunity was created by the Norwegians. In the 34th minute, Erling Haaland almost capitalized on a wrong pass from John Stones towards Jordan Pickford. Shortly afterwards, the striker threatened again with a header saved by the English goalkeeper.

Norway's pressure paid off in the 36th minute. After a pass from Martin Odegaard, Andreas Schjelderup received it on the left side and finished with his left foot, surprising Pickford, who was expecting a cross. Four minutes later, Sorloth almost expanded, but sent the ball over the goal.

When it looked like Norway would go into half-time with an advantage, England equalized. Anthony Gordon played a precise pass to Jude Bellingham, who left a marker behind and hit a left to make it 1-1.

In the second half, Norway found the net again in the 56th minute. After a corner kick, Torbjorn Heggem scored, but the goal was disallowed due to a foul by Haaland during the play.

The Norwegian team continued to create danger. In the 70th minute, Ajer hit the post with a header following another corner. Close to stoppage time, Aursnes avoided the English turnaround with a cut on the line.

With the tie maintained until the end of regulation time, the decision went to extra time. Right at the beginning of the extra period, Morgan Rogers finished from the edge of the area, and Nyland made an incomplete save. Bellingham took advantage of the rebound and scored the turning goal.

Shortly afterwards, referee Clément Turpin awarded Bobb a penalty on Spence, but took it back after reviewing the move.

In the remaining minutes, England controlled the advantage and prevented a reaction from Norway. With the qualification, the English advanced to face Argentina in the semi-finals of the World Cup.
