His friend, fellow actor Pedro Garcia Netto, announced the news on Instagram. "My great friend was a warrior, Edward Boggiss fought bravely. Much light in his passing", he wrote. Doctor George Patrick, Boggiss's cousin, also mourned his death: "Go in peace, cousin."
The cause of death was not revealed. According to Quem magazine, Edward Boggiss was diagnosed with oropharyngeal cancer in 2024.
Pedro Garcia Netto also released a poem written by Edward Boggiss. The text, called "Volta a Florir", says: "It's not defeat to fight again. It's a test of strength, it's starting over. Each tear is now a seed, which sprouts in courage, firm and silent. If the wind changes, breathe slowly. Even in chaos, there is a way to love. And when tiredness asks you to go, remember: the miracle is not giving up".
The burial takes place this Thursday (9) in Rio de Janeiro. From 11 am, friends, family and fans gather in room 3 of the Memorial do Carmo cemetery, in Caju. At 2pm, the body will be cremated.
Edward Boggiss played the villain Tony in the series "Sandy & Junior" and Caio in the 5th season of "Malhação". He also participated in productions such as "The Prophet", "Floribella" and "City of God".
