According to the Menlo Park Fire Department, the dog went missing during the Fourth of July holiday. On the 16th, a witness called emergency services after seeing him enter the water near the Dumbarton Bridge, in East Palo Alto, and continue swimming.
The operation mobilized two vehicles, a boat and a hovercraft. First, firefighters located the animal with the help of binoculars. Then, a drone was used to track the dog's movement across the bay.
With police support, teams managed to remove the dog from the water. He was sent to the local Animal Protection Society, which identified the owners and arranged for his return.
“Dog and family are reunited”, celebrated the Menlo Park Fire Department on social media.
Images of the rescue were released by firefighters and the East Palo Alto Police Department.
