SÃO PAULO, SP (UOL/FOLHAPRESS) - The court denied an appeal by Jairinho that could have annulled the trial that sentenced him to more than 40 years in prison for the death of boy Henry Borel.

The Rio de Janeiro Court of Justice understood that the defense of Jairo Souza Santos Júnior, known as Jairinho, did not present elements capable of making the decision at trial illegal. The decision was signed last Tuesday by judge Maria Angélica Guerra Guedes.

Jairinho's lawyers reported that the public repercussion of Henry Borel's death compromised the outcome of the trial. The convict's lawyers again argued that the jury should have been dismissed, that is: taking the trial to another city.
