Civil Defense warns of very high risk of flooding in RS

According to the agency, the level of danger is high in the section of the Taquari between Muçum and Taquari and in the area of the Caí river that runs from Montenegro to Harmonia. More than 50 municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul have already reported damage following the sequence of rains in the state.

Residents of the cities included in the alert must seek shelter or remain in safe areas, following the determinations of municipal contingency plans. In case of emergency departure, the recommendation is to take your pets. When this is not possible, they should be left loose, without collars, leashes or cages.

The State Civil Defense Monitoring Center predicts new episodes of intense rain, with large volumes concentrated in a short period of time, in the North, Northwest, Northeast, Center and Serra regions.

In the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre, in the Valleys, on the Costa Doce, in the South and on the North Coast, the forecast indicates the possibility of isolated thunderstorms, accompanied by heavy rain, hail and gusts of wind.

There is also a moderate risk of landslides in Porto Alegre, Arroio do Meio, Cruzeiro do Sul, Muçum, Fontoura Xavier, Santo Antônio da Patrulha, Encantado, Três Forquilhas, Itati, Parobé, Maquiné, Nova Hartz, Sapucaia do Sul, São Leopoldo, Igrejinha, Portão, Bom Princípio, Montenegro and Três Coroas.
