In the statement, the CBF states that Claus is "recognized worldwide as one of the best referees in activity and has a career marked by technical excellence, ethical conduct and absolute respect for football", reiterating that it refutes any insinuation that casts doubt on the Brazilian's integrity.
Claus expelled, after a VAR review, striker Folarin Balogun, from the USA, in the match against Bosnia-Herzegovina, in the 32nd phase of the World Cup, last Wednesday (1st), which later had an automatic suspension annulled by FIFA.
This Monday (6), in addition to admitting that he asked Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA, to review the red card, Trump attacked the Brazilian referee.
"This referee is a bit suspicious if you check his background. I don't want to say that, because I don't like to create controversy, but he is very suspicious," said the American president.
