Carolina and Michael are under arrest, the Public Ministry said. Until the publication of this text, Estadão sought contact with the defenses, but without success. This space remains open for demonstrations.
The formal accusation against the businesswoman and the police officer, already received by the Court this Thursday, 2nd, is signed by prosecutor Nahyma Ribeiro Abas. According to her, Samara had been hired verbally and temporarily to provide domestic services at Carolina dos Anjos' residence.
On the morning of April 17, after being accused the previous day of stealing a ring, the victim was subjected by the two accused to a session of physical and mental aggression, says the complaint. The objective was to extract a confession about the alleged theft of the jewelry.
During the attacks, Michael Bruno, carrying a firearm, shot the young woman in the forehead, dragging her by her hair. The victim was forced to remain on his knees, at gunpoint, while suffering psychological pressure.
The attackers also threatened to drug the victim in order to transport her hidden in a vehicle to a farm, where they would execute her, according to the Public Ministry.
"The ring was later located in a clothes basket, showing that the object had never been stolen, but forgotten by the boss herself", says the Prosecutor's Office.
Even after the jewelry was found, Carolina began to throw a series of punches and slaps at Samara, while the police officer immobilized her. "The young woman had to bend over her own belly to protect the fetus," says the complaint.
The materiality and authorship of the crimes were supported by the Maranhão Public Prosecutor's Office based on forensic forensic examinations, reports that found hearing loss in the victim and the history of contacting the Military Police via 190.
The complaint also highlighted two audios seized by the Civil Police in which the businesswoman detailed the violence. In the recordings, she stated that she gave 'so much to this woman that to this day my hand is swollen here'. When asked if the intention was to leave the victim with bruises, she reported that 'she wasn't even supposed to come out alive'.
Given the evidence gathered, prosecutor Nahyma Ribeiro Abas requested that the accused be brought to trial by the Jury Court. She also asked for the maintenance of preventive detention decrees and additional measures.
The Public Prosecutor's Office spoke out against the defense's request for secrecy because the investigative phase has already been completed and 'the case has broad social interest and public repercussion'.
