Junior Alonso agreed to join the MLS club during the World Cup. The 33-year-old defender will play for Atlanta United.
Defender has been at Atlético-MG since 2024, when he returned from Krasnodar (RUS). He is the foreign player with the most appearances for the club: 242; in addition, he won six titles - four Campeonatos Mineiro and the Brasileirão and the 2021 Copa do Brasil.
Junior Alonso was a starter for Paraguay in the World Cup, playing on the left flank. The South American team surprised by eliminating Germany in the second phase of the World Cup and stopped in the round of 16, with a defeat to France.
