Tupã City Hall of Tupã/Disclosure With the aim of reducing the incidence of scorpions and preventing accidents, the City Hall of Tupã, through the Zoonosis Control Center (CCZ), regularly carries out nighttime capture actions for these animals in different parts of the municipality. The activities take place at night, a period when scorpions are most active, which increases the efficiency of monitoring and capture. The teams work mainly in places that already have a history of animal appearances or where requests from the population have been registered. According to the head of the Zoonoses Sector, Meiriele Melo, the actions are aimed at areas previously monitored or that have shown an increase in the number of occurrences. She explains that daytime guidance and inspection work is essential to identify the factors that favor the presence of scorpions, while nighttime capture allows specimens to be collected and the infestation to be monitored, helping to reduce the proliferation of these animals. The municipal secretary of Health, Rosângela Urel, highlights that scorpion control depends on the integration between the work of technical teams and community participation. According to her, in addition to the actions developed by the municipality, it is essential that residents keep backyards and land clean, eliminate debris and materials that could serve as shelter for animals and notify the Zoonosis Control Center whenever they identify the presence of scorpions. For the director of the Department of Health Surveillance, Robison Luiz, continuous monitoring allows teams to act preventively and strategically, concentrating efforts on regions with the highest incidence and reducing risks to the population. When encountering scorpions or identifying places with frequent incidence, residents should contact the Zoonosis Control Center so that teams can carry out technical assessment and, when necessary, include the location in the monitoring and capture schedule.
