The decision was approved, on Tuesday (28), by the denomination's Supreme Council, held in Manaus, after the leadership raised questions about the group's practices related to Christian doctrine, the use of motivation techniques and the way the participants are organized. The guidance does not represent a prohibition for church members to participate in the movement. According to Legendários himself, the decision establishes a recommendation for each local church to evaluate how to guide its faithful about participating in the group. The group holds meetings and challenges that involve team activities, moments of reflection and overcoming practices. The organization claims to aim to encourage men to improve their relationships, their family life and their relationship with God. Why did the Presbyterian Church make the recommendation? According to the opinion approved by the IPB Supreme Council, one of the main questions is related to the use of motivational speeches associated with coaching and communication and engagement strategies. Presbyterian leadership stated that the practices would represent a departure from the simplicity and centrality of the Gospel of Christ. The document also cites as points of concern the use of institutional secrecy, closed rituals of belonging, oaths, standardized clothing and identification of participants by numbers. For the church, these elements would not be aligned with the Reformed Christian tradition.
