Camera captures moment when car collapses toll ceiling; driver died The toll booth cover that collapsed after being hit by a car on Sunday (26), in Campinas (SP), was 6 meters high. The accident occurred on Rodovia Governador Adhemar Pereira de Barros (SP-340) and caused the death of the 24-year-old driver of the vehicle. The crash happened around 9:50 am, at km 123 of the highway, towards Jaguariúna (SP). Images from a security camera showed the car approaching the toll booth at high speed. The vehicle passed through the marked area, hit the concrete containment of a cabin and was thrown against the roof. As a result of the impact, the upper beam of the structure collapsed. The driver was rescued in serious condition and taken to Jaguariúna Municipal Hospital, but did not survive. The body was sent to the Legal Medical Institute (IML). The roof fell on two other cars, containing seven people. None of the occupants were injured. Reconstruction will be defined after inspection Renovias will carry out a technical inspection to assess the damage and define how the toll booth will be reconstructed. There is still no estimate of the financial loss. On Monday morning (27), the toll plaza was partially operational. Three manual and three automatic cabins were in operation, while four others remained closed. The scene underwent forensic examination and the case was registered as manslaughter in the direction of a motor vehicle in the 4th Police District of the municipality.
