The case, which had been ongoing since 2023 - when the company announced an alleged billion-dollar financial fraud -, was never judged.
The withdrawals, not identified in the statement, will have to reimburse the retailer for the arbitration expenses, which includes administrative costs, arbitrator fees and the Appeal Committee's fees.
In January 2023, Sérgio Rial, former CEO of the company, signed a statement that revealed accounting inconsistencies worth R$20 billion in the retailer's cash flow. In the same month, the company entered into judicial recovery with debt of R$43 billion owed to 16,300 creditors and only R$800 million in cash. A subsequent statement confirmed fictitious profits of R$25.3 billion and alleged fraud totaling R$45.9 billion.
