"Recently, we carried out a fundamental action in Teresópolis: the Rural Workers Documentation Task Force, which totaled more than 1,200 assistances", stated the superintendent. According to the MDA, Teresópolis has the largest agricultural Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the state, with emphasis on the production of ponkan and cauliflower. Currently, Pronaf generates around R$3 million in funding credits and another R$600,000 in the Pronaf Mais Alimentos line in the municipality. Another priority for the ministry is to strengthen institutional purchases from family farming, mainly through the National School Feeding Program (PNAE). According to the MDA, school meals generate around R$1.7 million per month in Teresópolis, of which approximately R$780,000 are allocated to the purchase of family farming products. The ministry also intends to expand agroecological production, strengthen technical assistance and adapt public purchases to the harvest calendar to facilitate the commercialization of food produced in the region. Among the planned initiatives is the launch of the Fluminense Family Farming Seasonality Notebook, a publication that brings together information on the production periods of the main agricultural crops to guide producers, consumers and public managers. To increase the number of farmers with CAF, the MDA intends to promote information campaigns, support efforts and active search for producers who do not yet access public policies. The ministry also intends to expand technical assistance programs aimed at women, urban agriculture and rural development. Another goal is to expand access to credit through Pronaf, including for producers who renegotiate debts through the Desenrola Rural program. According to the ministry, Teresópolis currently has 336 families with active CAF and able to access financing lines. In the medium and long term, the MDA intends to consolidate actions aimed at credit, access to land and citizenship, in addition to discussing the creation of the Serrano Territory, a proposal that seeks to integrate public policies for the region's municipalities.
