José Douglas Bernardo Gomes da Silva, suspected of raping his mother in Delmiro Gouveia, died in a confrontation with the police Reproduction/TV Asa Branca Alagoas A 24-year-old man, suspected of raping his 63-year-old mother, died on Tuesday night (21) after resisting arrest and exchanging gunfire with police in Delmiro Gouveia, in the Sertão of Alagoas. José Douglas Bernardo Gomes da Silva was on the run. According to the Civil Police, he was being investigated for raping his mother on July 18th. According to investigations, the elderly woman reported that, in addition to sexual violence, she was also a victim of physical attacks committed by her son.

The Civil Police stated that, upon noticing the teams approaching, José Douglas shot at the police officers, who retaliated. There are no reports of other injuries. After being shot, the suspect was rescued and taken to the Emergency Care Unit (UPA) in Delmiro Gouveia, but he succumbed to his injuries and died. The body was sent to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) of Arapiraca, where it will undergo forensic examinations. Teams from the Civil and Military police participated in the action, as well as the Municipal Guard of Delmiro Gouveia.
