Federal Senate - plenary Ton Molina/Agência Senado The dispute for the two seats in Amazonas for the Federal Senate has, until August 5th, eight names confirmed as candidates in the 2026 elections. They are: Captain Alberto Neto; Eduardo Braga; Evandro de Oliveira; Ismael Munduruku; Professor Evany; Plínio Valério; Wilson Lima Xuxa from Amazonas After the conventions, the deadline ends this Wednesday (5), the parties have until August 15th to register the tickets that will compete in the 2026 elections. If there is a second round, voters must return to the polls on October 25 this year. Captain Alberto Neto Captain Alberto Neto is from PL. Evandro de Oliveira The candidate for the Senate for the Unified Socialist Workers' Party (PSTU), Evandro Oliveira is a mechanical worker who works alongside outsourced workers at Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. (Petrobrás). Evandro has never run for election and has no social media profiles. Ismael Munduruku Ismael Munduruku, candidate for senate for the Rede Sustentabilidade party in Amazonas. An indigenous leader, he has a career linked to the defense of traditional people. Professor Evany; Professor Evany is a candidate for the Senate for Amazonas. Disclosure. Professor Evany Nascimento, confirmed as second name to the Senate on the Rede/Psol coalition ticket, has a degree in Artistic Education from the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM) and has experience in the field of Education. The candidate is also active in activism in the state. He also received a PhD in Design from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro - PUC-Rio, in 2014. Plínio Valério Plínio Valério (PSDB - AM) Disclosure Plínio Valério left the Manaus City Council (CMM) in 2018 for the Federal Senate after having a vote that placed him as the candidate with the most votes. During his term, Plínio served as president of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry that targeted Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) operating in the Amazon. He was also involved in controversies during the period. In 2025, the parliamentarian stated that he wanted to hang Minister Marina Silva during a hearing in the Senate. On another occasion, Plínio Valério stated that he didn't understand "a damn thing" about the Manaus Free Trade Zone. Wilson Lima Wilson Lima Disclosure Television presenter, Wilson Lima began his political career in 2018, when he was elected governor of Amazonas. Four years later, he was elected to the same position, where he remained until April of this year, when he resigned to run for the Federal Senate. Wilson Lima's mandates were marked by scandals in the health sector. In June 2020, the then governor was the target of search and seizure in a Federal Police (PF) operation that investigated suspected irregularities in the purchase of respirators to treat patients with Covid-19. He is currently a defendant at the Superior Court of Justice (STJ). Xuxa do Amazonas Xuxa do Amazonas. Reproduction/Social Networks Xuxa, whose given name is Milton Rogério Moreira Pinto, is from the state of Rio de Janeiro. In 2019, he was one of the founding partners of Amazonas FC, a football club that currently competes in Series C of the Brazilian Championship. In October 2024, Xuxa was arrested on suspicion of an electoral crime during the first round of the general elections. According to police, he had a large amount of cash inside a car and campaign material. Shortly afterwards, Xuxa was released.
