Sant'Ana River Círio brings together faithful in Igarapé-Miri, in Pará The traditional Sant'Ana River Círio brought together hundreds of colorful boats in the rivers of Igarapé-Miri, in the northeast of Pará, last Sunday (19). The pilgrimage, considered one of the most important and traditional religious manifestations in the riverside region, marks the culmination of tributes to the municipality's patron saint. The festivities in honor of Sant'Ana continue with cultural and religious programs until next Sunday (25). ? Follow the g1 Pará channel on WhatsApp Faith that sails The river pilgrimage began in the early hours of the morning, leaving from the Vila de Maiauatá pier. The image of Sant’Ana was placed on a raft decorated with flowers and colorful ornaments, which led the procession to the municipality’s headquarters. Throughout the entire route, devotees followed the procession in small, medium and large boats. The noise of the engines mixed with songs of praise and fireworks, transforming the river into a scene of celebration and devotion. In 2026, the festival reaches a historic milestone, celebrating 312 years of tradition in the Tocantina Amazon. During the celebration, the parish priest of the Parish of Sant’Ana, Father João Paulo Viana, highlighted the importance of maintaining this secular faith that unites riverside families and strengthens the region’s cultural identity. Meeting on land and final blessing On the banks of the river, upon arrival at the headquarters of Igarapé-Miri, a crowd of faithful were already anxiously awaiting the arrival of the image. The patron saint's reunion with devotees on dry land was marked by moments of strong emotion, tears and gratitude for the graces achieved. After disembarking, the image continued in a land procession towards Praça da Igreja Matriz, where the final blessing was performed, ending the solemn moment of the River Candle. The Sant’Ana festival in Igarapé-Miri is known for attracting tourists and boosting the local economy, especially the river transport sector and food trade. The religious and cultural program, which includes novenas, masses and festivals with musical attractions, remains active for residents and visitors.
