Event will debate the economic potential of the maritime environment Disclosure Macaé is preparing to consolidate its position as one of the main drivers of the so-called "Blue Economy" in the country. Between the 24th and 28th of July, the municipality will hold the fourth edition of the Sea Economy Fair. The event, integrated into the Expo Macaé 2026 program at the Latiff Mussi Rocha Exhibition Park, will debate the economic potential of the maritime environment through discussions on sustainable fishing, nautical tourism, the offshore market and environmental conservation. With free entry, the meeting brings together public authorities, the private sector, educational institutions and professional associations to discuss development strategies. The highlight of this edition will be the launch of Macaé as the first city in Brazil to implement the Blue Seal Certification for Coastal Cities. This is an initiative by the Federation of Commercial and Business Associations of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Facerj), in partnership with the Brazilian Association of Maritime Economy Companies (Abeemar), designed to encourage good governance practices in maritime territories. Business round and strategic connections Right after the official opening, scheduled for 1pm on July 24th, the event begins its Business Session. The space was planned to connect large companies in the oil and gas chain and service providers. Representations from regional and national giants are confirmed, such as Arke Energia, Engeman, Unimed Costa do Sol and Shopping Plaza Macaé, with the aim of fostering new contracts and expanding regional networking. To participate in this specific round, investors and entrepreneurs must register in advance online. Macaé will be the first city in Brazil to implement the Blue Seal Certification Coastal Cities Disclosure For the Municipal Secretariat of Economic Development, the sea represents the main financial and historical vector of the city, which maintains a strong fishing tradition while also leading operations to support the offshore energy market. The department's coordination points out that the event's biggest difference in 2026 is to treat sustainability not as an obstacle, but as a direct response to contemporary climate and economic challenges, integrating different productive sectors under the concept of active preservation. Institutional involvement to make the fair viable mobilizes dozens of representative entities, from the Port Authority and Firjan to local commercial associations and development bodies such as Sebrae and Senac. Program highlights The dynamics of the event were designed to balance the commercial exhibition with high-level technical debates over five days: Exhibition weekend (July 24th to 26th): The public will be able to visit the stands of companies and institutions from 12pm to 7pm, learning about the main technological innovations and projects focused on the maritime sector. Monday (July 27) – Planning and Blue Seal: The day will be dedicated to debates on coastal management and tourism. From 2pm, experts discuss the bottlenecks for nautical tourism and, at 4pm, the official ceremony of joining and implementing the Governance Committee of the pioneering Blue Seal in the city takes place. Tuesday (July 28) – Fishing and Security: The conclusion will address artisanal fishing and its inclusion in school meals as a model of local development. On the occasion, the mayor will symbolically receive the Sebrae Prefeitura Empreendedora award in the Blue Economy category. The final panel, at 4pm, will be led by the Brazilian Navy, focusing on the integration of local fishing communities.
