In the images, it is possible to see plastic chairs and tables being dragged by the force of the wind across the sand strip. A metal structure set up for the city's June festivities fell during the rain accompanied by strong gusts of wind on Saturday afternoon (18). The case took place on Travessa João Pessoa, in the city center. Although the structure collapsed on a busy road, no pedestrians or vehicles were hit. According to reports from residents, the accident caused great fright among people nearby. In a statement, Rio Tinto City Hall reported that the decorative structures installed next to the Main Church were knocked down as a result of the strong winds that hit the Mamanguape Valley and the coast of Paraíba. The municipality highlighted that there was only material damage and that teams from the Secretariat of Urban and Rural Development (SEDUR) and the Municipal Traffic Department were called immediately to remove the structure and guarantee the safety of the population, in addition to reestablishing the flow of vehicles in the region. Paraíba is under gale warnings and heavy rain The entire territory of Paraíba remains under a gale warning issued by the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet). The warning predicts winds between 40 km/h and 60 km/h, with the possibility of falling tree branches, roofing, interruptions in the electricity supply and other disruptions. In addition, 94 municipalities in Paraíba are under yellow alert of potential danger for intense rain, valid until 11:59 pm this Saturday (18). The warning indicates the possibility of rain accompanied by strong winds and recommends that the population pay extra attention in risk areas. Authorities advise that, during gusts of wind, the population avoids staying under trees, not parking vehicles near structures that could fall and follow the warnings from official meteorological monitoring bodies.
